A Day in the Life of a Farm Family!

Each year, I try to make time for 2 creative shoots or personal projects related to photography. One thing that has been on my mind for some time is shooting a family for a full 24 hour period- 98% photo-journalistically (not manipulating the moments- just shooting them as they unfold). I thought of my longtime friend who is now living on a small farm in New England. Not only does she have the cutest little family, horses & dogs, they have gone completely organic which I find fascinating.

I loved shooting them going about their daily activities while learning some of their reasons behind going organic and using only organic and heirloom seeds in their large family garden. Over the past several decades, our American food supply has become toxic thanks to leading pesticide and GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) corporations such as Monsanto, DuPont, Bayer, Dow Chemical Company, BASF, Syngenta, and a few more. These companies dominate the world’s seed, pesticide and biotechnology industries and have replaced traditional farming habits with seeds that have been genetically altered in a lab and are contaminated with pesticides. When animals or people consume GMOs with altered DNA, their DNA is altered in the process… To put it plainly, our genes change and not for the better. Food is information to the body; it can be either healing and nourishing or destructive, depending on what is on the end of the fork. Many of the GMO seeds used for agriculture/food today are technically registered as pesticides with the US government. How does any of this seem right served on your dinner plate? Additionally, due to the lack of labeling GMO’s in America, the only way to safely avoid them, as well as many harmful pesticides, is by purchasing certified organic foods. Getting back to basics, living as naturally as possible in all aspects and trusting God’s design for everything, is something that is extremely important to this family.

Now to the real story…Meet mom, dad, babe and all of their rescue animals!!!
